Suzanne Jutras, the pilot killed in a fatal helicopter crash in Quebec’s Montérégie region, is being remembered by friends and members of the aviation community as a passionate, professional, and accomplished pilot. Jutras was among four people who died when a helicopter crashed into a field in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, southeast of Montreal, on September 26, 2026.
The Sûreté du Québec said the crash occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. The helicopter caught fire, and all four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities initially reported that the aircraft experienced difficulties after takeoff, while a later update indicated it was returning when the crash occurred. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has launched an investigation into the circumstances.
Jutras, 50, was remembered by her friend Judy Frost as a wonderful and highly professional pilot who loved flying. Frost said she had flown with Jutras several times and had recently spoken with her about her excitement at approaching 500 hours of flight time. Jutras was also known for offering helicopter tours. Organizers of the Les Félixeries festival remembered her as their favorite pilot over the previous three years and extended condolences to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her through her passion for aviation.
The other three victims were identified as Gabriel Jasmin, Chantal Raymond, and Loucas Perreault. They were reportedly on a helicopter ride celebrating Raymond’s birthday. Family tributes described Raymond as a pillar, Loucas as a son with much more to accomplish, and Jasmin as a devoted husband and father. As investigators examine the crash site and available evidence, the cause remains under investigation.
