Gabriel Jasmin, a familiar voice in Sherbrooke radio, has died in a helicopter crash that claimed four lives in Quebec’s Montérégie region. Jasmin was among the victims of the crash Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2026, in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville. The helicopter went down in a field and caught fire after the impact, killing everyone aboard. The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. near rang des Écossais, roughly 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal.
The victims included Jasmin, Chantal Raymond, Loucas Perreault, and pilot Suzanne Jutras. According to reports, the helicopter trip had been arranged to celebrate Raymond’s birthday, turning what was intended to be a family occasion into a devastating tragedy. Jasmin was a radio host and media professional who had worked at Énergie Sherbrooke for several years. Reports indicate he had been with the station for about nine years and was involved in various radio, audio, and podcast projects throughout his career.
Beyond his regular broadcasting work, Jasmin participated in podcasts including Off the Record – Les secrets de la radio and the sports podcast L’Entracte. He also developed J’en ai long à dire!, a project that gave older people an opportunity to share their memories and experiences. He had also helped young people learn about podcasting through workshops.
Jasmin was also a partner and father to a young daughter. His partner, Océane Perreault, shared an emotional tribute following the crash, saying she had lost Gabriel as well as her mother and brother in the tragedy. Énergie and Bell Media have also expressed condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and daughter.
